Key Responsibilities
1. Pricing & Quotation Management
- Rate Procurement: Negotiate block-space agreements (BSAs) and ad-hoc spot rates with major airlines, GSA (General Sales Agents), and charter operators for both export and import lanes.
- Tender & Spot Quotations: Formulate competitive rate proposals for sales teams and direct key accounts, factoring in airline buy-rates, local handling charges (GHA), trucking, and customs brokerage.
- Margin Optimization: Ensure optimal gross profit (GP) margins on every quote without losing out on market competitiveness.
2. Operations & Execution (Import & Export)
- End-to-End Coordination: Oversee movement for both Air Export (booking, routing, airport delivery, airline documentation, Master/House Air Waybills - MHAW/HAWB) and Air Import (flight tracking, airline manifest clearance, breakdown, delivery orders, and transshipment).
- Compliance & Regulatory Standards: Ensure strict adherence to customs regulations, TACT rules, and Dangerous Goods (IATA-DGR) handling guidelines.
- Exception Management: Handle flight delays, offloads, custom holds, or cargo damage proactively, offering immediate alternate routings.
3. Customer Service & Account Management
- Client Escalation Point: Act as the primary escalation contact for major accounts regarding service quality, billing discrepancies, or operational delays.
- Proactive Tracking: Ensure the customer service desk delivers timely shipment status milestones (departure, arrival, delivery updates) to clients.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with co-loaders, overseas agents, ground handlers, and internal sales/finance teams.
4. Financial Control & Commercials
- P&L and Billing Oversight: Review job files to ensure accurate billing, timely debit/credit note issuances, and minimization of revenue leakage.
- Carrier Invoicing & Cost Control: Verify airline purchase invoices against agreed buy-rates to streamline vendor payments.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of global airport hubs, airline routing, unit load devices (ULDs), and Incoterms.
- Certifications: IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and Cargo Introductory Course certifications are heavily preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with forwarding ERP tools like CargoWise, SAP, or specific air operations modules.
- Analytical & Negotiation Skills: Strong pricing acumen to interpret market rate fluctuations, peak-season surcharges, and fuel adjustments (BAF/FAF).
