Job summary

IT By Design is seeking an experienced IT Tier 2 Technician in Chandigarh, India, to deliver advanced end-user support and assist with server, virtualization, backup, and network infrastructure. Qualifications

• 4+ years in IT support, infra, or sysadmin.
• Hands-on with Nutanix AHV/HCI and VMware ESXi.
• Experience with VMware-to-Nutanix migration is required.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Experience with DNS and DHCP troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 support for hardware, software, peripherals, and apps.
• Troubleshoot escalated issues and document resolutions in ticketing systems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
• Support Nutanix AHV/HCI and VMware ESXi environments.
• Assist with VMware ESXi to Nutanix migrations and upgrades.
• Monitor backup environments with Veeam or Rubrik and recover data.
• Troubleshoot Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP issues.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced IT Tier 2 Technician to provide advanced end-user support and assist with server, virtualization, backup, and network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV, VMware ESXi, Windows Server, Active Directory, Veeam/Rubrik, and networking technologies. Experience with VMware ESXi to Nutanix AHV migrations is highly preferred/required.

This position requires strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

End-User Support

• Provide Tier 2 technical support for hardware, software, peripherals, and application issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access-related issues.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps in the ticketing system.
• Provide technical support to both technical and non-technical users.

Server & Virtualization

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers.
• Manage Nutanix AHV/HCI and VMware ESXi environments.
• Perform VM provisioning, lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
• Support VMware ESXi to Nutanix AHV migrations.
• Assist with hypervisor, firmware, AOS/AHV upgrades and cross-platform troubleshooting.
• Support server upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure projects.

Backup & Recovery

• Monitor and troubleshoot backup environments.
• Work with Veeam and/or Rubrik backup solutions.
• Perform data recovery and restoration operations.
• Troubleshoot backup failures and ensure backup reliability.

Windows Server & Active Directory

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
• Troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Event Viewer issues.
• Assist with user/group administration and permissions.
• Troubleshoot Windows-based infrastructure issues.

Networking & Security

• Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
• Work with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and routing.
• Troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SMB-related issues.
• Assist with firewall, VPN, endpoint security, and network configuration.
• Apply security patches and follow cybersecurity best practices.

Required Skills

• 4 years of experience in IT support, infrastructure, system administration, or a related role.
• Hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV/HCI and VMware ESXi.
• Experience with VMware-to-Nutanix migration is required.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Experience with DNS and DHCP troubleshooting.
• Experience with Veeam and/or Rubrik backup solutions.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
