Job summary

The Search AI Company in Bengaluru, India is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to support our US-based team. You’ll perform day-to-day ledger entries for cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and payroll transactions, reporting to the local Accounting Manager and coordinating with Treasury, A/R, A/P, Consolidations, FP&A, Tax and external auditors.

You will own the ledger process, assist with payroll, and ensure accurate reporting while collaborating with multiple internal teams and external partners

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (or local equivalent) in Accounting (mandatory).
• Robust analytical skillset and multitasking capabilities, adherence to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process daily journal entries for cash, prepaid, fixed assets and payroll transactions.
• Oversee amortization schedules for prepaid and fixed assets.
• Assist with payroll transactions processing for global organization.
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts and explain variances.
• Prepare adjusting entries from balance sheet reconciliation, variance analysis and quarter-end close.
• Communicate across departments to resolve reconciliation items for month-end close.
• Ensure accurate general ledger reporting in the accounting system and perform internal controls.
• Assist with annual audit, quarterly reviews and SOX control requests.
• Participate in special projects as needed.

What is The Role

The Accounting team is seeking a General Ledger Accountant in India, to support our US-based team. This person will perform the day-to-day ledger entries primarily in respect to cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and payroll transactions. Our business is growing very quickly and while you will be empowered to take ownership of your work product, there will be times that action will be required without extensive up-front guidance, but you would never go it alone. Reporting to the local Accounting Manager, you will work with many groups within and outside of the company, including: Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Consolidations, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit and external auditors and consultants as needed.

What You Will Be Doing

• Process daily bank information: download daily bank statements and prepare appropriate journal entries for upload into NetSuite
• Oversee prepaid and fixed assets amortization schedules
• Assist with payroll transactions processing for our global organization
• Analyze and maintain complex general ledger balance sheet accounts by gathering data, reconciling the general ledger control accounts to sub-ledgers, and explaining variances
• Prepare adjusting journal entries resulting from the balance sheet reconciliation process, variance analysis, and quarter-end close
• Communicate across the departments to resolve outstanding reconciliation items in a timely manner for month end close
• Ensure the accurate reporting of general ledger accounting in the company’s accounting system by performing key accounting internal controls
• Participate in preparing and supplying documentation for the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, internal audit SOX control requests, other accounting team data requests, and executive management special projects
• Participate in special projects as needed
