Job summary

Rize in Bengaluru is seeking a skilled accounting/finance professional to join our growing team. You will manage core accounting processes, ensure compliance with GST/TDS, and partner with FP&A on budgeting and reporting.

This role requires 4-6 years of experience, proficiency with ERP software such as Tally, Zoho Books, NetSuite or SAP, and a detail-focused, ownership mindset in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
• Commerce/Accounting education background required.
• Understanding of GST and TDS in India is essential.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities including AP, AR, GL, expense accounting and journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank, vendor, customer and ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
• Ensure GST, TDS and other statutory compliances are completed timely.
• Handle payments, cash management and vendor inquiries.
• Support audits and establish robust internal controls.
• Collaborate with FP&A and strategic finance teams for budgeting and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities including AP, AR, GL, expense accounting and journal entries.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions
• Perform monthly bank, vendor, customer and ledger reconciliations
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Review employee expenses, vendor invoices and payment requests
• Manage accounts payable and receivable ageing

2. Month-End & Financial Reporting

• Support monthly and quarterly financial closing
• Prepare schedules and reconciliations for monthly reporting
• Assist in preparation of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements
• Analyse variances and flag unusual movements to the finance team
• Maintain proper documentation for audit and management reporting

3. Tax & Statutory Compliance

• Prepare and submit GST, TDS and other applicable statutory compliances
• Ensure timely payment and maintenance of tax invoices and supporting documents
• Support statutory and internal audits

4. Payments & Cash Management

• Prepare and process vendor and other operational payments
• Maintain payment trackers and ensure timely settlement of liabilities
• Support cash flow tracking and bank reconciliations
• Coordinate with banks and vendors on payment-related queries

5. Audit & Controls

• Support statutory, tax and internal audits
• Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documents
• Help establish and maintain appropriate finance processes and internal controls
• Identify process gaps and suggest improvements

6. Business Finance Support

• Work closely with the FP&A / Strategic Finance team on financial data and reporting
• Provide accounting inputs for budgeting, forecasting and financial models
• Support analysis of business and operational expenses
• Assist with finance projects related to new markets, entities and business initiatives

7. Process Improvement

• Help automate and streamline accounting and finance processes
• Improve data quality and reporting accuracy
• Develop and maintain finance trackers, SOPs and documentation
• Work cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Procurement and other teams

What We Are Looking For

• 4-6 years of relevant accounting / finance experience
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field
• CA Inter / CMA / MBA Finance would be an advantage
• Strong understanding of Indian accounting and GST/TDS
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
• Experience with accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, NetSuite, SAP or similar
• High attention to detail and ownership mindset
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
