You will not just do the books, which is also a task to be done by you. You will maintain a digital financial accounting system that scales. We are a startup, needing real-time visibility into our cash flow, burn rate and unit economics. Your mission is to ensure that every rupee spent is tracked, compliant, and audit-ready before the external auditors even ask.

You will be the administrator of our financial tech stack (Zoho Books, Zoho Payroll, Zoho Expense). You need to know the set up of the automation rules wherein most of the linked bookkeeping/expense/payroll entries happen automatically. Your purpose is to integrate Finance, HR, and Procurement into a seamless, data-driven engine using the available system of cloud tools.

You act as the "Controller" of funds - ensuring vendors get paid on time, but only after proper Purchase Order (PO) validation following an approval process. You are the translator who turns complex engineering spend (including imports) into accounting ledgers that our investors and CA can understand.

Note:There will be a probation period for this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations (The Daily Work)

• Bookkeeping: Daily recording of transactions in Zoho Books. Perform Bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, and petty cash management.
• Procurement Cycle: Manage the Purchase Order (PO) process for engineering parts. Ensure invoices match the POs (Three-Way Match) before releasing payment.
• Payroll Processing: Process monthly payroll, including breakdown of allowances, reimbursements, and deductions, ensuring employees are paid on time every month.

2. Compliance & Taxation

• TDS & GST: Calculate monthly TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and GST liabilities accurately. Prepare the data, ensure proper reconciliation of GST data for our CA to file the returns.
• Vendor Compliance: Ensure capture of vendor details (PAN/GST) before we pay a single rupee.
• Documentation: Maintain a digital archive of all agreements, invoices, and challans. No physical paper chases.

3. Reporting & Analysis

• MIS Reporting: Produce the monthly "Founder’s Finance Pack": Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, and 'Runway' analysis.
• Budget vs. Actual: Track project expenses against the budget.
• Project Expenses: Maintain separate accounts and details as per requirements for project costing and accounting.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Education/Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA).
• Experience: 1–4 years of hands‑on accounting experience.
• Tech Stack: Mandatory proficiency in Zoho Books. If you have used only desktop Tally, this role is not for you. We require cloud‑first account keeping.
• Excel Skills: You must be a master of VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and basic financial modelling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Manufacturing or Hardware Startup (dealing with inventory/stock valuation).
• Knowledge of Import/Export documentation (Bill of Entry, Customs Duty).
• Experience with Project Accounting and integration of Accounting software with Project Management software.
