Job summary

Uisce Éireann in Ireland is recruiting a Water Treatment Operator to manage a designated treatment plant, performing routine maintenance and ensuring safe, compliant water production. The role covers monitoring, SOP adherence, and responding to SCADA/telemetry alerts as part of a regional operations team.

The successful candidate will have a secondary education foundation, a clean driving licence, and preferred certifications in water/wastewater operations.

Qualifications

• Secondary level education or equivalent work experience.
• Full, clean and valid Irish category B driving licence is minimum requirement.
• Certification in Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations preferred.
• Water Services Training Group qualification preferred.
• Plumbing or Electrical skills or training desirable.
• Experience working within Water Industry and /or other Utilities preferred.
• Experience of working with automated control systems such as SCADA is desirable.
• Experience of using IT systems and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of the water treatment processes, and carry out routine maintenance activities.
• Monitor and control the operation of the plant and treatment process to ensure clean, safe water is produced in compliance with regulations.
• Implement and follow all SOPs in effect at the plant and any revised SOPs introduced from time to time.
• Monitor changes in Raw Water Quality and undertake routine jar tests for dosing.
• Operate and maintain assigned assets including inspecting, testing, and replenishing consumables.
• Conduct asset checks and inspections, raise work orders on Maximo where required.
• Check, record and monitor all necessary quality parameters and perform daily checks.
• Monitor SCADA/telemetry alerts and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Support process optimisation recommendations to improve performance and efficiency.
• Record and report relevant information using the provided technology systems.
• Check instruments, replenish reagents, and report malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Monitor chemical stocks and report when low; supervise delivery of bulk chemicals.
• Support operation of newly commissioned assets including relevant training.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and participate in safety programmes.
• Monitor plant CCTV and report any untoward matter.
• Adhere to health and safety acts and use required PPE.
• Carry out duties to protect information security as per policy.
• Perform other duties as required to support plant operation.
