Job summary

MEDITE SMARTPLY, a market leading timber construction panels manufacturer, is seeking a Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor to join the Belview facility near Waterford. You will supervise warehouse and shipping teams to optimise plant performance and ensure loads reach customers in good order.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in a manufacturing environment, and a solid grasp of inventory systems.

Qualifications

• HETAC level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline.
• 3 years’ experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory/management experience in warehouse/manufacturing.
• Strong leadership and people motivation are essential.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee warehouse and shipping to meet metrics like planning costs and turnaround times.
• Direct daily activities to meet order delivery targets and cross‑functional requirements.
• Maintain SKU records on WMS and coordinate IT fixes.
• Ensure safety procedures for loads and secure transportation.
• Advise Market Support/Sales on equipment and loading plans for new products.
• Lead and develop staff applying Lean techniques to improve efficiency.

Job description

We are looking for a Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor to join our existing team based at our SMARTPLY OSB Facility in Belveiw, via Waterford.

THE ROLE:

The Warehouse Supervisor will supervise and drive warehouse & shipping activities in order to optimise the overall plant performance & deliver loads in good order to customers. The role is also responsible for maintaining high standards of warehouse safety and inventory accuracy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the Warehouse & Shipping team to ensure delivery on key warehouse & shipping metrics i.e. warehouse planning & costs, volumes shipped, turnaround time etc. while adhering to relevant safety, environmental, operational and customer service standards.
• Direct & organize the daily work activities to meet operational, manning and inter-departmental cross-functional requirements to ensure shipping meets the targets for orders to for delivery, reinforcing the importance of shipping for the final presentation and delivery of the goods to the customers.
• Responsible for the SKU records on WMS. Identifying and working with IT to fix problems in a timely manner.
• Ensure at all times the service providers follow the safety procedures on site and that loads are loaded and appropriately secured for transportation.
• Advise Market Support/Sales on equipment & loading plan for new product dimensions.
• Managing the Satellite Warehouses and Shunting operators so that they provide the service required by the company cost effectively.
• Ensuring sufficient storage is available at weekends and holiday periods for production to run as planned.
• Identify areas and develop options that will continue to improve on efficiencies across all operational drivers including Customer Service.
• Responsible for updating the Logistics Customer Service Report.
• Responsible for advising and managing container loading both on and off site.
• Lead, motivate and develop staff in a manner that will drive excellence aligned to the company’s policies and use Lean Techniques for problem solving and improved efficiencies.
• Maintain effective communication within the team and across all depts.
• Keeping up to date on RSA and legal requirements for Road haulage and safety of load transportation.

QUAILIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

• HETAC level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline and 3 years’ experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory / management experience while operating in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
• A strong track record in team leadership and people motivation is essential.
• Excellent communication, organisational & interpersonal skills required
• Ability to lead, empower and motivate staff to ensure KPI' s are achieved.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work on one’s own initiative
• Demonstrate excellent IT skills and knowledge of inventory systems.
