Job summary

Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is seeking a Design Engineer for transportation projects in Dublin. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering rail, road and public transport schemes across Ireland and the UK, covering modelling to construction management and maintenance.

The role requires at least four years of post-qualification civil engineering experience, strong AutoCAD/OpenRoads skills, BIM awareness, and a solid knowledge of TII/DMRB standards; fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• At least four years’ post-qualification experience in the design or construction of civil engineering projects.
• Good knowledge of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications and the National Highways DMRB.
• Technically proficient with AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer.
• Basic knowledge of the planning application process.
• Experience in preparing reports.
• Experience implementing quality procedures and records.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
• Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Motivated individual with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and construction of civil transport projects.
• Prepare technical reports and submissions.
• Create and manage 3D models for transportation schemes.
• Support multidisciplinary collaboration across teams.
