Job summary

FRS Recruitment is seeking a Trade Counter Assistant for a hardware retailer in Laois. You will greet trade professionals, builders and customers, provide product advice, and process sales at the busy counter.

Ideal candidates will have hardware knowledge, strong customer service skills, and experience with EPOS systems. The role is 5 days a week with every second Saturday, based in Rathdowney with a move to Abbeyleix.

Qualifications

• Previous experience at a busy trade counter or hardware/store environment.
• Knowledge of building materials and hardware products.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to work five days per week including every second Saturday.
• Proficient with EPOS systems and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service at the trade counter, answering queries, quoting prices, and processing sales orders efficiently.
• Ensure the trade counter and showroom areas are well-stocked, clean, visually appealing, and stocked with the latest product displays.
• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for collection or local delivery, coordinating with warehouse and logistics.
• Build a strong understanding of hardware, tools, plumbing, and building supplies to provide accurate recommendations.

Salary: EUR35000 - EUR38000 per annum

Location: Rathdowney with a move to Abbeyleix

Working Hours: 5 days per week, to include every second Saturday (with a mid-week day off in lieu, or standard shift rotation).

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service at the trade counter, answering queries, quoting prices, and processing sales orders efficiently.

• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for collection or local delivery, working closely with the warehouse and logistics team.
• Build a strong understanding of our extensive range of hardware, tools, plumbing, and building supplies to provide accurate recommendations to customers.

Key Requirements

• Previous experience working on a busy trade counter, in a builders' providers, hardware store, or a customer-facing retail/sales environment.
• Good working knowledge of building materials, hardware products, or general trade supplies is a distinct advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, helpful, and professional telephone and in-person manner.
• Willingness to work a 5-day week that regularly includes working every second Saturday.
• Comfortable usingEPOS (electronic point of sale) systems and basic computer applications.
