Trade Counter Assistant – Cork

We are currently recruiting for a Trade Counter Assistant on behalf of a well-established and successful business operating within the roofing and building materials sector. With a strong presence across Ireland and a long-standing reputation within the construction industry, this is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and commercially focused team based in Cork.

The Role

This is a customer-focused position working on the trade counter, supporting customers with product enquiries, sales and orders while assisting with the smooth running of the branch.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Meeting and greeting customers at the trade counter

• Dealing with customer enquiries and providing knowledgeable product advice

• Selling products directly to trade and retail customers

• Processing sales and customer orders by phone, email and in person

• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships

• Preparing and processing quotations and sales orders

• Supporting field-based sales representatives

• Assisting with stock control and general branch administration

• Ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently

• Working closely with colleagues to ensure a high level of customer service

• Working independently when required, while also contributing effectively as part of a team

About You

We are looking for someone who is customer-focused, commercially aware and a strong communicator. You will be dealing with customers at various levels, so confidence, professionalism and a positive attitude are essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a trade counter, sales, customer service or similar role

• Ideally, experience within the building materials, roofing, construction or trade sector

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• A strong customer service and sales focus

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

• A willingness to learn about products and develop strong industry knowledge

• A positive, proactive and professional approach
