Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Test Technician for a leading electronics manufacturer in Ringaskiddy, Cork. You will set up, test and troubleshoot electronic products in a regulated production environment, reporting to the Production Test Supervisor.

You will work with schematics and test equipment, contribute to quality standards and documentation, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Level 6 qualification in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
• At least two years’ relevant experience, preferably in ISO 9001 or similarly regulated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components and analogue, digital and power circuitry.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic PCB assemblies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up and test products using schematics, layouts, procedures and specifications.
• Operate test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies.
• Test and debug PCB assemblies and systems with analogue, digital and power circuits.
• Maintain accurate test records and production documentation.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions.

About Your New Job

As a Test Technician, you will set up, test and troubleshoot electronic products and systems at a modern manufacturing facility in Ringaskiddy, Cork. Reporting to the Production Test Supervisor, you will support production activities and ensure products meet the required technical and quality standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Using schematics, layout drawings, assembly drawings, procedures and specifications to set up and test products.
• Operating test equipment including digital multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes and function generators.
• Using environmental stress screening chambers and vibration tables for testing and troubleshooting.
• Testing and debugging electronic PCB assemblies and systems containing analogue, digital and power circuitry.
• Working with components ranging from passive devices to FPGAs and microprocessors.
• Testing and debugging electronic motor controllers in line with established procedures.
• Performing failure analysis on production and returned assemblies and systems.
• Working with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions.
• Supporting technician training, product familiarisation and knowledge sharing.
• Completing test documentation, yield reports and non-conformance data.
• Maintaining accurate test records and production-related documentation.
• Following requirements relating to personal tool maintenance, electrostatic discharge precautions, FOD prevention, safety and housekeeping.

What Skills You Need

To apply, you will need:

• A minimum Level 6 qualification in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least two years’ relevant experience, preferably in an ISO 9001 or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components and analogue, digital and power circuitry.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic PCB assemblies and systems.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
• Flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience or qualifications in Lean manufacturing.
• IPC 7711/7721 certification.
• IPC-A-610 certification.
