About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Test Analyst to join the team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. Reporting into the Finance function and working closely with Finance SMEs, Data Migration Leads and IT teams, you will be responsible for developing and executing the testing and reconciliation strategy for the migration of financial data between enterprise finance systems as part of a General Ledger transformation programme. The role will focus heavily on data migration testing, financial reconciliation, data validation and defect management, ensuring migrated data is accurate, complete and suitable for business sign-off.
Design and develop detailed data migration test scripts aligned with reconciliation requirements, including trial balance, subledger and transaction-level validation.
The Role:
- Execute end-to-end data migration testing across mock migration cycles, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Dress Rehearsal phases.
- Perform detailed reconciliations to ensure migrated financial data is accurate and complete.
- Validate data completeness and accuracy using techniques including:
- Record counts
- Report-to-report comparisons
- Extract-to-extract comparisons
- Log, track and manage defects using Jira or similar tools, including clear documentation, impact assessment and retesting.
- Investigate, manage and support the resolution of data migration and data quality issues.
- Produce high-quality reconciliation workbooks, audit evidence and validation reports to support governance and business sign-off.
- Work closely with Finance SMEs, Data Migration Leads and IT teams to resolve data mapping, transformation and data quality issues.
- Support stage-gate readiness by ensuring testing and reconciliation evidence is complete, accurate and auditable.
- Validate data quality issues and support data cleansing activities, including master data validation and mapping completeness checks.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, templates, controls and tools.
Candidate Profile:
- Strong understanding of finance processes and UAT testing within transformation programmes.
- Proven experience developing and delivering testing programmes for General Ledger or financial systems implementations.
- Strong experience in data migration testing, data validation and/or financial systems testing.
- Ability to reconcile financial data at multiple levels, including:
- Subledger to General Ledger
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, validation and reconciliation.
- Experience using Jira or similar tools for defect management and test tracking.
- Ability to interpret data mappings and validate source-to-target data transformations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly when working across Finance and IT.
- Ability to produce clear, structured and audit-ready documentation and evidence.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple testing activities and deadlines within a structured programme.
Education & Experience
- Third-level qualification in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, IT or a related discipline.
- Typically 3–7+ years' experience in testing, financial systems testing, data migration or financial reconciliation roles.
- Experience working on ERP implementations or major Finance Transformation programmes.
- Experience with enterprise finance platforms such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft or similar.
- Previous experience working on a data migration and/or General Ledger implementation.
- Practical experience using Jira or similar defect/test management tools.
- Experience within financial services, banking or insurance would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or ISTQB are desirable but not essential.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will combine strong financial systems knowledge with hands‑on testing and data reconciliation experience. You should be comfortable working between Finance and IT teams, analysing large volumes of financial data, identifying discrepancies and producing robust evidence to support business sign-off. This would suit someone who has worked on ERP implementations, GL replacements, Finance Transformation or data migration programmes and enjoys a hands‑on testing and reconciliation role.
