The Role
BnM is seeking a Technology Operations Engineer to join the IT team in Newbridge. Reporting to the Technology & Solutions Manager, the Technology Operations Engineer provides hands‑on technical support across infrastructure, networking, operational systems and end‑user technologies. Acting as a key liaison between business operations teams and the Technology function, the role works as part of the broader Technology team to support the delivery of secure, reliable and resilient technology services while helping drive operational performance and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will possess strong infrastructure, networking, troubleshooting skills. The role requires some understanding of operational technologies such as SCADA, PLC, and DCS environments and how they interact with wider technology infrastructure.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- Support critical operational and business systems, primarily through onsite engagement. Work with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to investigate and resolve technical issues. Maintain an understanding of SCADA systems, PLC-based control systems, DCS, and industrial networking concepts. Escalate specialist control system issues to appropriate vendors or subject matter experts as required.
- Provide technical support for technology infrastructure across business and operational environments. Support physical and virtual server platforms. Assist with storage, backup, recovery, and monitoring solutions. Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Act as a trusted point of contact between operational teams and the Technology function. Support the delivery of technology services that enable safe, reliable, and efficient business operations. Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve technology service performance and user experience. Contribute to the development of operational standards, procedures, and documentation. Participate in technology reviews and service improvement programmes.
- Operate within established Service Management processes. Support Incident, Request, Problem, Change, and Asset Management activities. Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and known errors. Maintain technology asset and configuration records where required.
- Promote adherence to cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices. Support technology governance, risk management, and compliance activities. Assist with vulnerability management, patching activities, and security remediation initiatives. Ensure technology services align with business continuity and resilience requirement.

- Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:
- Third-level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Full clean driving licence, as regular site visits will be required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical support role.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders and working with third-party support providers to deliver upgrades and technology-related projects.
- Experience or exposure to instrument control and automation within operational environments, ideally including power plants and/or wind farms. Knowledge or practical understanding of systems such as DCS, SCADA, PLC, RTU, or similar operational technologies.
