Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is partnering with a Galway based client to appoint an experienced Technical Services Manager. You will lead engineering, maintenance and technical services across plant, utilities and infrastructure, reporting to the Head of Facilities.

You will supervise a team, manage external contractors, ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency and safety performance.

Qualifications

• Engineering/Building Services degree or equivalent.
• Experience in engineering/technical services in regulated env.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are partnering with a Galway based client who are seeking to hire an experienced Technical Services Manager to lead its engineering, maintenance and technical services function.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities, the role will have responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of plant, equipment, utilities and infrastructure, while leading a team and managing external contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, maintenance, utilities and technical services operations.
• Oversee planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Manage and develop engineering and facilities personnel.
• Manage maintenance and engineering contractors, ensuring appropriate standards, competencies and certifications.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Lead technical input into risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Implement robust permit-to-work, isolation and contractor control processes.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades and lifecycle replacement programmes.
• Manage technical services budgets, expenditure and procurement activities.
• Develop and monitor KPIs covering maintenance performance, response times and system reliability.
• Maintain asset registers, compliance records and maintenance documentation.
• Support audits and ensure ongoing operational and regulatory readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement, efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and work closely with senior management and key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
• Significant experience managing engineering/technical services within a highly regulated or complex operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, utilities and building services systems.
• Proven experience managing maintenance teams and external contractors.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance, risk management and health & safety.
• Experience managing budgets and maintenance contracts.
• Experience with CAFM or maintenance management systems.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding operational environment.
