Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment is seeking a Galway-based Technical Services Manager to lead engineering, maintenance and technical services. Reporting to the Head of Facilities, you will ensure safe, efficient, compliant operations of plant, equipment, utilities and infrastructure while leading a team and external contractors.

You will drive risk assessments, audits and continuous improvement, manage budgets, and develop KPIs to monitor performance and reliability across the site.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Building Services degree or equivalent.
• Significant experience in engineering/technical services leadership.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, maintenance, utilities and technical services operations.
• Oversee planned preventive and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Manage and develop engineering and facilities personnel.
• Manage maintenance and engineering contractors, ensuring appropriate standards, competencies and certifications.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Lead technical input into risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Implement robust permit-to-work, isolation and contractor control processes.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades and lifecycle replacement programmes.
• Manage technical services budgets, expenditure and procurement activities.
• Develop and monitor KPIs covering maintenance performance, response times and system reliability.
• Maintain asset registers, compliance records and maintenance documentation.
• Support audits and ensure ongoing operational and regulatory readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement, efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and work closely with senior management and key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
• Significant experience managing engineering/technical services within a highly regulated or complex operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, utilities and building services systems.
• Proven experience managing maintenance teams and external contractors.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance, risk management and health & safety.
• Experience managing budgets and maintenance contracts.
• Experience with CAFM or maintenance management systems.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding operational environment.
