Job summary

Sun Life Financial in Waterford is seeking a contract/Co-Op Full Stack Web Developer intern to join the Database Inventory System team. You will design, implement, and optimize a full stack solution using Java, ReactJS and RESTful services, working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This internship is open to current third-year students who must complete a placement as part of their degree and who plan to graduate in December 2027 or later.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/BA in Computer Science with December 2027 or later graduation date.
• 3+ years of experience with ReactJS and front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3).
• Experience with Spring or similar Java frameworks, architecting and programming.
• Experience with SQL Server databases in Java environments.
• Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services, JSON/XML.
• Experience with cloud technologies – AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux fundamentals; PowerShell helpful.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of migrating legacy code to Java-based web solutions.

Responsibilities

• Play a major role in helping to build out the Java development team.
• Influence how DMS evolves software engineering and migrate legacy code to Java.
• Collaborate with developers to deliver scalable, low-latency solutions.
• Present monthly to stakeholders and contribute to documentation.
