Job summary

Sun Life Financial in Waterford is seeking a contract/Co-Op Full Stack Web Developer intern to join the Database Inventory System team. You will design, implement, and optimize a full stack solution using Java, ReactJS and RESTful services, working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This internship is open to current third-year students who must complete a placement as part of their degree and who plan to graduate in December 2027 or later.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/BA in Computer Science with December 2027 or later graduation date.
• 3+ years of experience with ReactJS and front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3).
• Experience with Spring or similar Java frameworks, architecting and programming.
• Experience with SQL Server databases in Java environments.
• Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services, JSON/XML.
• Experience with cloud technologies – AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux fundamentals; PowerShell helpful.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of migrating legacy code to Java-based web solutions.

The Java developer will be able to fully design, implement, and optimize a full stack solution to meet the changing stakeholders’ needs, in a fully Agile manner. They will be capable of creating and updating technical and user documentation to ensure knowledge transfer amongst team members, and present monthly to stakeholders. The code must be effective and scalable with low-latency and high-availability. They may also help organizations with their technological framework.**Eligibility:** Internship opportunities are open exclusively to current third-year degree students who are required to complete an internship or work placement as a mandatory part of their degree program/coursework.
