Job summary

Leinster Appointments is seeking a Head of Finance to build the operational finance backbone for a growth-focused organisation in Dublin. You will lead accounting for the operating company and subsidiaries, drive group reporting, and implement automation to support scalable expansion.

You will partner with management and operations to improve margins, deliver timely financial statements, and embed robust controls.

Qualifications

• Completed commercial training or degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related discipline.
• At least 3–5 years of professional experience in accounting, controlling or finance operations, ideally within an SME, skilled trades or services environment.
• Solid understanding of Irish accounting and tax requirements, together with experience working with group accounting standards.
• Strong understanding of operational finance processes.
• Experience with finance system improvements and implementations, as well as strong Windows and Excel skills.
• Initial experience with automation platforms and AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the ongoing accounting of the operating company and its subsidiaries, including the integration of future acquisitions and preparation of group consolidation in accordance with group processes and standards.
• Collaborating with and managing external parties supporting the transition to group accounting standards and assisting with certain valuation topics.
• Monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation in accordance with group standards, including fast close by working day 10, WIP valuation, intercompany reconciliations, management accounts and related reporting.
• Preparing and coordinating interim balance sheets and annual financial statements.
• Preparing tax returns and VAT statements and ensuring timely submission.
• Expanding and maintaining monthly management reporting for management and the wider group, including financial reporting and operational performance monitoring.
• Carrying out operational controlling, including contribution margin accounting.
• Optimising project and service margins through appropriate measures and supporting management with financial insight.
• Preparing KPIs and unit economics for the operational steering cockpit and weekly management dashboard, identifying and implementing opportunities for optimisation.
• Documenting normalisations and special items and integrating them into reporting.
• Ensuring regular cash reporting to the wider group.
• Optimising cash collection and driving effective accounts receivable management.
• Maintaining and monitoring liquidity planning, including a 13-week cash outlook.
• Adapting and optimising the system landscape for monthly closings, accounts receivable/payable processes, WIP, the service business and HR.
• Taking responsibility for expanding automated processes using AI and automation solutions.
• Driving process improvements, including introducing and documenting a procure-to-pay (P2P) process for selling and administrative expenses.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and scalability across finance and operational processes.
• Leading the back-office function and working closely with operational teams, external advisers and the management team.
• Coordinating group reporting and M&A-related financial information.
• Acting as the primary finance link between the local operating entities and the wider group.
• Supporting management with financial analysis, decision-making and strategic planning.
