Job summary

Chadwick's Group, including The Panelling Centre in Limerick, is seeking a Stock Controller to perform daily cycle counts, investigate variances, and manage stock takes while serving customers and keeping stock correctly located.

You will work with branch staff, use the stock management system and Excel, and contribute to efficient stock control across yard, stores and shop, reporting variances to the Branch Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in stock control or cycle counting.
• Good IT literacy and ability to learn new systems.
• Strong numerical and data entry skills.
• Knowledge of building materials is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Daily cycle counts and maintaining counts between 70-90 items.
• Complete monthly stock cycle counts.
• Ensure stock is in correct locations and properly labelled.
• Serve customers and process goods inwards promptly.
• Maintain accuracy of the computer-based stock management system.
• Report variances to Branch Manager.

Principle Objective

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the role of the Stock Controller is to perform daily cycle counting and investigation of variances while also overseeing stock takes in their branch. The Stock Controller will also be responsible for serving customers, ensuring stock is in correct locations, and putting stock away.

Knowledge & Experience

• Customer and supplier return systems and procedures
• Knowledge of general administration / clerical systems
• Excellent IT literacy with an ability to efficiently learn new systems
• Good product knowledge of Building/Plumbing Materials
• Some prior knowledge or experience working within the Sheet material/timber industry is an advantage
• Knowledge of internal systems including Goods Inwards would be a distinct advantage
• Ability to plan, prioritise and organise the function effectively e.g. Planning counts ahead

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Cycle Counts – Maintain maximum level of daily counts <70 to 90 items per day>
• Complete stock cycle counts monthly
• Ensure stock is in correct locations
• Put stock away and maintain stock organisation
• Serve customers as required
• Daily Goods Inwards – prompt input and compliance with procedures
• Update & maintain accuracy of branch computer-based stock management system
• Run Variance report & investigate all shortages / overages
• Ensure all materials in yard, stores and shop are properly labelled
• Report to Branch Manager on high value items with variances
• Identify aged and slow-moving stock; liaise with charge hands and other branches
• Liaise with stores staff for changes on dockets
• Liaise with yard foreman to maintain neat & tidy stocks, and forward planning of counts
• Liaise with Price File team on Bar-code issues/corrections required etc.

Contract Type

• Permanent full time
• Full time 39‑hour contract
• Working week Monday to Friday; may be required to take part in the Saturday roster
