Job summary

Inscribe is hiring a Staff Systems Engineer to own the systems and infrastructure behind our real-time API and internal services. You will work across cloud, backend and data layers to ensure fast, reliable, and cost-efficient performance as our customer base grows.

The role blends DevOps, SRE and cloud architecture. You’ll lead design, improve pipelines, monitor uptime, and mentor the team, driving architectural choices that balance scale with velocity and business impact.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience across systems engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud architecture.
• Proven ability to scale production systems and infrastructure in high-growth environments.
• Deep familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data-heavy backend systems.
• Strong backend development skills in Python, with an ability to get deep into the codebase.
• Passion for reducing toil, automating operational tasks, and improving engineering velocity.
• Business-aware mindset: You can align infrastructure decisions with product goals and growth strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and scaling of core infrastructure across compute, data, observability, and networking.
• Optimize deployment pipelines and release automation to boost developer efficiency.
• Monitor production uptime, latency, and cost performance.
• Tune service performance, database access patterns, and caching strategies.
• Own capacity planning, reliability, and on-call best practices.
• Drive architectural decisions for high-throughput API services.
• Contribute to tooling and processes for operational excellence.
• Lead infra projects from roadmap through rollout with business impact.
• Mentor teammates and uphold engineering quality and docs.
