Job summary

Toast is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate the core distributed systems powering Toast’s platform. You will bridge core infra with product development, delivering low-latency storage, scalable compute clusters, and high-throughput streaming pipelines.

You will enable Toast product delivery across our PDLC, building databases, ensuring sub-second latency, and optimizing cloud resources while maintaining reliability in a growing, international environment.

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable cloud infrastructure using IaC.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or equivalent for automation.
• Extensive experience with relational and non-relational databases at scale.
• Hands-on with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong SRE practices: monitoring, health checks, alerting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate foundational distributed systems powering Toast.
• Bridge core infrastructure with product development for low latency.
• Architect and manage storage, compute clusters, and streaming pipelines.
• Ensure sub-second latency and high throughput across services.
• Optimize compute/storage costs while maintaining reliability.
