Job summary

Toast is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Ireland to help build AI agents for the Team area within the Fintech line. You will design, develop, and deliver autonomous agents that optimize how restaurants manage staff, blending state-of-the-art AI with practical operations.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design, and contribute to architecture and code quality as part of a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Java, Kotlin or other object oriented languages.
• Experience with modern web standards and technologies (React, TypeScript, REST, GraphQL).
• Experience or strong interest in using coding agents and adopting agentic development practices.

Responsibilities

• Be hands-on in developing and shipping Team Agent products that leverage LLMs and agentic frameworks.
• Flex your full-stack development muscles with challenging end-to-end tasks in a collaborative team environment.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to build autonomous agents for restaurant workforce management.
• Participate in designing, estimating, implementing, testing, and debugging end-to-end agent solutions.
• Mentor developers through code-pairing and architectural reviews.
• Champion best practices for agent development, deployment, and quality life cycles.
