Job summary

Toast is hiring a Staff Infrastructure Engineer for the Compute & Storage Platform. You will design, build, and operate distributed storage and compute systems powering our product ecosystem and PDLC.

In this hybrid role, you will deliver scalable, low-latency infrastructure across databases, queues, and services on AWS, with a focus on automation, reliability, and cost optimization. You will work with Python/Go and modern tooling in a fast-paced hospitality tech environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Fluency in Python or Go for automation and tooling.
• Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle) and non-relational databases (DynamoDB/OpenSearch).
• Proven containerization and orchestration with Docker, ECS/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Architect and operate low-latency storage and compute systems.
• Ensure sub-second latency and high-availability across storage engines.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and data pipelines for PDLC.
• Optimize cloud costs without compromising reliability or latency SLAs.
