Job summary

Sonatus is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead Edge AI development for in-vehicle health monitoring. You will own end-to-end ML pipelines, from data ingestion and model training to deployment on resource-limited edge devices.

The role sits in a hybrid Dublin office and involves collaboration with a seasoned ML team. You will mentor junior engineers, work with PyTorch/TensorFlow, and optimize models for embedded environments, including CAN signals and multi-modal data streams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Machine Learning Engineering with 3+ years on Edge AI or Embedded Systems.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers in software development.
• Expert Python and strong C++ (C++14/17) for inference.
• Proficient with PyTorch or TensorFlow and inference engines like ONNX, TFLite, or TVM.
• Experience with NLP techniques for textual data parsing, sequence modeling, or lightweight LLMs/SLMs.
• Experience deploying to Edge environments (ARM based) with memory constraints.

Responsibilities

• Build and train AI Edge models to process unstructured logs, kernel traces, and multi-modal data.
• Integrate ML flows, including cloud-based LLM APIs, with emphasis on synthetic data creation.
• Develop algorithms to automatically cluster log patterns and detect software regressions or crash precursors.
• Design models to monitor time-series data from CAN bus and on-board sensors.
• Port and optimize PyTorch/TensorFlow models for CPU/GPU or embedded NPUs.
• Apply quantization, pruning, distillation and memory optimization for tight RAM/Flash budgets.
• Define data strategy for on-device filtering: what to process locally vs in the cloud.
• Lead the edge ML pipeline architecture and mentor junior engineers on embedded AI.
