Job summary

Avista is seeking a part-time Sports, Leisure and Recreation Support Worker at St Vincent’s Centre Dublin to assist service users with activities and access to facilities. *Salary subject to Relevant Public Sector Experience and pro-rated for hours of work.

• Hold a relevant qualification in Sports, Recreation, Exercise, Fitness, Sports Science or a related discipline at QQI Level 5 or above, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Be able to undertake the practical and physical duties associated with the role, including, but not limited to, regularly moving, setting up and storing sports and fitness equipment and supporting individuals to safely access and use cardio machines and other equipment, in accordance with organisational health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe manual-handling practices.
• Be familiar with relevant policies, guidance and good practice relating to health and wellbeing, physical activity, safeguarding and disability inclusion, including the Healthy Ireland Framework, National Physical Activity Plan and Sport Ireland guidance on safeguarding and disability inclusion in sport and physical activity, with an understanding of their relevance to the role.
• Experience working in one of these fields and specifically supporting people with disabilities will be an advantage.
• Full clean manual Irish driving licence or the agreement to pass test within 9 month probation period
• Desire to support people to live their best lives and commitment to promoting the active engagement and participation of Service Users in their local communities.
• Willingness to support persons to develop skills and competencies around identified areas of interest and learning.
• Applicants should possess Level 1 behavioural competencies of Avista competency framework.
