Ergo are seeking a Software Tester with strong Linux skills for a long-term contract opportunity in Dublin. Working within a global team you will test cutting-edge satellite-based aviation systems in lab environments contributing directly to passenger experiences and long-haul flight technologies.
In addition to strong testing experience the successful candidate will have solid Linux knowledge, understanding of networking concepts (IP protocols, routing, DNS) and proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, Perl etc.).
This is not your typical role and we need inquisitive techies who like to solve problems and shape technology.
What will you do?
- Execute functional, regression, and failure-mode test campaigns in the Dublin lab
- Configure and operate Linux-based test systems, OTA equipment, and lab infrastructure
- Write and maintain test procedures and evidence packages
- Log, track, and triage defects in Jira/XRay; manage test cases and execution records
- Contribute to risk-based test coverage decisions - identifying which test blocks apply to a given release based on change scope.
- Support CAT (Customer Acceptance Testing) and Config-Diff activities for airlines in the EMEA region.
- Execute end-to-end GX functional test scenarios covering portal behaviour, service configuration, and passenger-facing connectivity.
- Support airline onboarding validation activities - verifying system readiness against defined entry and exit criteria.
- Collaborate with the FE2E team on test planning, execution tracking, and stakeholder reporting
- Reproduce and investigate customer-reported issues in lab and live environments, providing clear technical analysis.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test cases for repeatable GX validation scenarios.
What do you need?
- 4+ years in software or systems testing - functional, integration, or end-to-end.
- Solid Linux knowledge: command line, shell scripting, log analysis, process/service management.
- Familiarity with networking concepts: IP protocols, routing, DNS, HTTP/S, service configuration.
- Experience writing and executing structured test plans and producing clear test documentation.
- Ability to debug, triage, and articulate technical issues in a clear, evidence-based manner.
- Scripting: Python, Bash, Perl, or equivalent.
- EU passport or Stamp 4 Visa (sponsorship not available)
The following is an advantage:
- Experience with Jira and XRay (or equivalent test management tooling).
- Exposure to satellite, aviation, or telecommunications system testing.
- Familiarity with customer-facing testing milestones or airline/operator integration environments.
- Understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality management frameworks.
- Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, pytest, or similar).
