Job summary

SCWO’s MSC is seeking a Social Service Intern to support financially vulnerable individuals and gain hands-on experience in programme coordination and social service operations.

As a Social Service Intern, you’ll assist clients with understanding maintenance and marital rights, provide emotional support, and help coordinate with partner agencies to ensure clients receive appropriate assistance. The role offers meaningful exposure to advocacy work and community impact.

Qualifications

• Final year students or fresh graduates in undergraduate/diploma courses may apply.
• Strong interpersonal communication abilities with individuals and systems at multi-levels.
• Enjoys working in a dynamic social service environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable managing data records.
• Canva-savvy and comfortable creating simple designs, presentations, and publicity materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and quality responses to individuals seeking support through calls, WhatsApp, emails, walk-ins, and referrals.
• Provide basic emotional support and active listening to clients.
• Assist clients with filing Fresh Maintenance Orders and Enforcement of Maintenance Orders applications and guide them through the legal processes (training provided).
• Conduct intake assessments for potential counselling and legal clinic clients.
• Assist in facilitating legal clinic sessions and talks.
• Collect client feedback on MSC services.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.
