Job summary

KILDARE COMMUNITY KARE LIMITED in Ireland is seeking a Social Care Worker to provide high‑quality care to young people supported by Pathways Ireland. You will report to the Social Care Leader, Social Care Manager and Service Manager and help deliver a safe, stable, caring and therapeutic service.

Essential qualifications include CORU registration (or being processed) and Level 7 qualification or Applied Social Studies.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of child development, behaviour management, attachment, leadership and childcare legislation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, reflective practice and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, support colleagues, build positive relationships with young people and remain calm in crisis situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and uphold the rights, dignity and welfare of young people.
  • Contribute to a safe, stable, caring and therapeutic environment.
  • Support the implementation and development of care plans and programmes of care.
  • Promote young people’s physical, emotional, educational, social and recreational development.
  • Develop personal, interpersonal, social and problem‑solving skills.
  • Plan and participate in appropriate activities and supervise outings.
  • Support young people to participate actively in their own care and engage appropriately within community/family settings.
  • Complete required activity risk assessments in line with company policy.
  • Maintain accurate files, records and reports, including documentation for reviews and case conferences.
  • Report accidents, incidents, complaints, allegations and relevant developments to management.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and attend meetings, supervision, training and induction.
  • Follow organisational policies, procedures and health & safety requirements.
  • Contribute to hygiene, cleanliness and the effective running of the centre.
  • Promote positive links with families, schools, community organisations, local services and An Garda Síochána.
  • Administer and accurately account for centre monies.
  • Support adequate staffing levels and undertake other duties as directed.
  • Supervise social care students on placement.
  • Adhere to the CORU Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics, maintain CORU registration and complete CPD as required.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must be registered with the CORU Social Care Workers Registration Board, or have applied through a Section 91 application and be awaiting registration. Relevant approved Social Care qualifications include BA/B.A. (Hons) awards in Social Care, Applied Social Care, Social Care Practice, Professional Social Care Practice, Social Care Work or Applied Social Studies in Social Care.

Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of child development, behaviour management, attachment, leadership and childcare legislation. Strong communication, interpersonal, reflective practice and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently and within a team, support colleagues, build positive relationships with young people and remain calm in crisis situations.

Other Requirements

Flexibility and willingness to work shifts, weekends and unsocial hours. Computer, counselling, recreation and report-writing skills required.
