Site Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to join our construction team in County Meath. The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and design teams to ensure construction works are delivered safely, accurately, on programme and to the required quality standards.
The role will primarily involve residential housing and apartment developments across Meath and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out works accurately using total station, GPS and other surveying equipment.
- Establishing and maintaining site control points, benchmarks and levels.
- Checking drawings, specifications and construction details before and during works.
- Ensuring construction activities are completed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Carrying out quality inspections and maintaining accurate site records.
- Monitoring groundworks, foundations, drainage, concrete, blockwork, structural works and external works.
- Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure works are completed correctly and efficiently.
- Identifying discrepancies between drawings and site conditions and raising technical queries where required.
- Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of inspection and test plans.
- Recording as-built information and assisting with handover documentation.
- Liaising with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers and other consultants.
- Supporting the Site Manager with day-to-day technical and engineering requirements.
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting any issues that may affect the project.
- Assisting with material inspections, deliveries and technical compliance.
- Ensuring all works comply with relevant Building Regulations, specifications, health & safety requirements and company procedures.
- Assisting with snagging, completion and final handover of units.
- Maintaining professional relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
Requirements
- Degree or Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.
- Residential construction experience is highly desirable, particularly housing or apartment developments.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, drawings and specifications.
- Experience with setting out and surveying equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and civil drawings.
- Good understanding of construction quality standards and building regulations.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a site team.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with modern surveying/GPS equipment.
- Knowledge of Irish residential construction standards and Building Regulations.
- Experience with QA/QC documentation and site inspection processes.
- Experience working on multi‑unit residential or apartment developments.
