Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager within the Business & Market Insights (BMI) organization. This role drives large-scale, cross-functional technology programs, coordinating across engineering, data, and product stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.

The role requires independent operation in ambiguous environments, strong agile experience, and the ability to translate complex information for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
• Experience managing complex technical programs across multiple teams, including external vendors or partners.
• Strong expertise in agile delivery models and scrum practices.
• Track record of managing escalations, aligning stakeholders, and delivering large-scale initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong understanding of business strategy, technology landscape, and design trade-offs.
• Demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing dependent teams across the organization.
• Experience helping establish or improve ways of working, delivery processes, or program governance models is a plus.
• BS in engineering, computer science, project management or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Operate with a high degree of independence to address ambiguous problem spaces and drive timely execution.
• Establish foundational program management practices, including delivery processes, governance, and operating rhythms for a newly forming engineering organization.
• Lead coordination and execution across internal teams and external vendors, ensuring alignment on scope, timelines and delivery outcomes.
• Identify and bridge gaps between regions, architectures, vendors, and organizations, creating scalable patterns for cross-team collaboration.
• Manage escalations and drive resolution of complex delivery challenges impacting multiple teams or stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for programs, communicating with senior leadership and translating complex information into clear updates.
• Provide accurate visibility into program status, risks and decisions to stakeholders.
• Facilitate constructive dialogue across teams to resolve misalignment and enable predictable delivery.
• Oversee execution across multiple teams and domains, creating reporting mechanisms and improving delivery processes.
• Support scaling of engineering squads across regions by establishing repeatable delivery models.
