Job summary

AECOM is seeking a technically proficient Technical Design Lead to join our data centre team. You will lead cross-disciplinary design efforts across UKI and Europe, ensuring compliance, quality, and timely delivery for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise projects.

You’ll manage client relationships, coordinate with local delivery teams, and travel as required to client sites and offices, driving innovative and practical design solutions across challenging environments.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer or Architect with leadership in complex data-centre projects.
• Experience with permitting, building systems, and construction methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel across UKI and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams (Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, ICT, BMS/EPMS) across UKI and Europe.
• Oversee all phases of data centre projects from site due diligence to construction documentation.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality design outputs meeting client requirements and timelines.
• Identify and mitigate project risks early with innovative solutions.
• Support Sector and Commercial teams on governance, compliance and risk mitigation.
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships and present to stakeholders.
