Job summary

Personio is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Technical Lead) for Developer Experience (DX) to set organization-wide technical direction across backend, frontend, and tooling. You will drive productivity across Kotlin/Java/TypeScript stacks, scale CI/CD, and lead AI-powered tooling adoption without direct reports.

In this hands-on role, you will influence hundreds of engineers, mentor senior staff, and shape standards for testing, deployment, and API design in a cloud-native, multi-stack

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on developer tooling.
• Expert, hands-on proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and TypeScript.
• Production experience with microservices, protos, gRPC, and Kafka-based eventing.
• Cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, AWS) and IaC with Terraform.
• Strong frontend DX with Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
• CI/CD and build tooling experience (GitHub Actions).
• Experience with AI-powered developer tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the DX technical strategy across the stack.
• Scale CI/CD pipelines, build orchestration, and testing frameworks for a polyglot codebase.
• Provide backend platform leadership for microservices, protos, and Kafka patterns.
• Shape frontend DX direction for Node.js, React, and TypeScript ecosystems.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and promote adoption of DX standards and tooling.
