Job summary

Optum Ireland, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a senior architect to lead enterprise-scale platform architecture and modern microservices. You will design scalable, secure systems using Java/Spring and front-end tech like React, while guiding Generative AI initiatives.

The role offers hybrid work between Dublin office and remote work-from-home. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and business stakeholders, and set architectural standards across teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
• Significant enterprise Java/J2EE development and support experience.
• Strong React.js front-end development experience.
• Experience with AI/LLM applications, RAG pipelines, and agent orchestration.
• Proven as a technical leader for modern cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and engineering of enterprise-scale platforms.
• Architect distributed, scalable, secure, and resilient systems.
• Design microservices with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and modern front ends.
• Own backend architecture and provide blueprints for teams.
• Provide technical leadership across full stack and Generative AI initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and grow the architecture organization.
