Job summary

Optum is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and deploy generative AI and traditional ML solutions for enterprise healthcare data. You will work across data prep, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring in a hybrid Ireland setup.

You will collaborate with product, security, and governance stakeholders, applying responsible AI practices and delivering scalable, reliable AI capabilities within secure cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven production ML/AI deployment experience in cloud environments.
• Hands-on Generative AI with LLMs, including prompt engineering and RAG.
• Strong Python and SQL with ML/data libraries.
• Experience with MLOps: experiment tracking, deployment pipelines, monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy generative AI solutions grounded in enterprise healthcare data.
• Develop traditional ML models from data prep to inference.
• Create evaluation harnesses, test sets, and metrics for model performance and GenAI systems.
• Implement MLOps: CI/CD, model registries, automation, drift monitoring.
• Collaborate with data engineers on datasets, semantic layers, and indexes.
• Work with stakeholders to translate use cases into practical solutions and ensure safety and privacy.
