Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with substantial experience in structural steel to manage commercial aspects of projects across Ireland and the UK. You will oversee cost planning, procurement, variations, valuations and final accounts on major steel contracts.

The role requires site visits, accurate take-offs, strong negotiation skills and the ability to work with clients, subcontractors and project teams to maximise profitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' Quantity Surveying experience.
• Strong experience within structural steelwork or similar construction projects.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management.
• Proven experience managing variations, claims, procurement and final accounts.
• Experience preparing valuations and interim payment applications.
• Ability to carry out take-offs from drawings accurately.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Commercially confident with independence to make decisions.
• Ability to work with project teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Proficient with Excel/Word/Outlook and project software.
• QS degree or relevant professional qualification.
• Irish steelwork market experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of commercial aspects, control costs and ensure accurate changes.
• Manage subcontractor procurement and finalise accounts.
• Prepare labour/equipment allocation sheets for site activities.
• Review drawings, identify tender changes and variations.
• Submit interim payments and monitor client cash flow.
• Carry out regular site visits to assess progress and issues.
• Prepare, submit and agree client accounts.
• Monitor project costs and commercial performance.
• Provide commercial guidance to project teams throughout lifecycle.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and communicate them.
