Novax Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to own the commercial side of structural steel projects in Southern Ireland. You will work with project teams from take-off through to final account and spend time on site to understand conditions before commercial decisions.
The role requires 7+ years QS experience, strong contracts & procurement expertise, and the ability to manage variations and claims while ensuring payment discipline across on-site and office activities.
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Structural Steel
Ireland – Southern Ireland Projects
Permanent | Full Time
Steel projects can move quickly.
Drawings change. Site conditions develop. Additional work appears. Subcontractors need managing and clients need paying.
The difference between a project that simply gets delivered and one that delivers commercially comes down to what happens between those moments.
That's where you come in.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of the commercial side of structural steel projects, working closely with project, site and fabrication teams from the initial take-off through to final account.
You’ll be involved across the full commercial lifecycle of your projects.
You’ll review drawings, complete take-offs for structural steel, decking and cladding, identify changes from the original tender and make sure those changes are captured commercially.
You’ll manage subcontractor procurement and accounts, prepare interim payment applications, negotiate variations and claims, and keep pressure on outstanding client payments.
You’ll also spend time on site, seeing the work first-hand and understanding exactly what is happening before making commercial decisions.
From cost planning through to completion, you’ll be responsible for making sure the numbers reflect the work being delivered.
This isn't a QS position where your involvement ends when the numbers go into a spreadsheet.
You’ll be close to the projects, visiting sites, working with project teams, dealing directly with clients and subcontractors, and seeing the steel you’re commercially responsible for being delivered.
You’ll have the opportunity to take real ownership of projects within a specialist structural steel environment, with plenty of scope to use your commercial experience rather than simply administer someone else’s processes.
If you’re an experienced Quantity Surveyor who understands that you can’t properly manage the commercial side of steel without understanding what’s happening on site, this could be worth a conversation.
