Job summary

PACE Global in Dublin is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management and commercial control on major transport infrastructure projects. You will manage a team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring robust cost estimation, spend control, and adherence to contractual principles within the Infrastructure division.

You will provide leadership to Claims, Contract Management, and Project Management teams, ensuring projects meet budget goals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Estimating, or related discipline.
• 10 years total commercial experience, with 3+ years in transport infrastructure/rail projects.
• In-depth understanding of construction contracts, commercial documentation, drawings, specifications, and standard methods of measurement.
• Experience delivering complex, high-value infrastructure projects in client-side, consultancy, or major contractor environment.
• Chartered status or membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., SCSI, RICS, CIOB).
• Leadership track record managing junior/intermediate quantity surveying staff.
• Adaptability to implement commercial governance across large-scale programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost estimation, planning, and design cost estimates for multidisciplinary rail and transport schemes.
• Provide commercial control, manage payments, and monitor final project costs to ensure entitlement.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates from drawings and on-site works.
• Mentor and supervise intermediate quantity surveyors to maintain high cost-control standards.
• Advise on claims, contracts, risk, and contract administration with project teams.
• Ensure compliance with standard measurement methods and internal commercial governance.

They are currently looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Dublin-based team.

The Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take overall responsibility for cost management and commercial control on behalf of the client entity for major transport infrastructure projects. Managing a team of Quantity Surveyors, you will ensure robust cost estimation, accurate spend control, and rigorous application of contractual reimbursement principles. Reporting within the Infrastructure commercial division, you will provide vital cost advice and leadership to Claims, Contract Management, and Project Management teams to ensure all projects meet their budgetary goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation & Planning: Lead the preparation of feasibility, preliminary design, and final design cost estimates for multidisciplinary railway and transport schemes.
• Commercial Control & Payments: Assess on- and off-site materials, process monthly payment certificates, and manage package final accounts while monitoring anticipated final project costs to ensure contractual entitlement.
• Measurement & Quantification: Undertake and review detailed measurements of design drawings and completed on-site works to compile accurate Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates.
• Team Leadership & Management: Guide and mentor Intermediate Quantity Surveyors to maintain high standards across all cost control and commercial management activities.
• Contractual & Claims Advisory: Partner with Claims and Contract Management teams to provide expert commercial guidance, risk evaluation, and contract administration support.
• Policy & Process Compliance: Drive adherence to standard methods of measurement, internal policies, and commercial governance procedures across all project stages.

Requirements Required:

• Education: Degree (BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Estimating, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ total commercial experience, with at least 3+ years specifically within transport infrastructure and multidisciplinary rail projects.
• Contractual Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction contracts, commercial documentation, drawings, specifications, and standard methods of measurement.
• Environment: Strong background delivering complex, high-value infrastructure projects within a client-side, consultancy, or major contractor environment.
• Professional Credentials: Chartered status or membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., SCSI, RICS, CIOB).
• Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing and developing junior/intermediate quantity surveying staff.
• Adaptability: Familiarity with implementing commercial governance across large-scale public or private infrastructure programs.
