Senior Platform Engineer: Cloud-Native, AWS & Microservices

Job summary

IT Search partners with a growing connected technology company to recruit a Senior Platform Engineer. The role focuses on building backend services, scalable cloud infrastructure and event-driven architectures across distributed services.

You will contribute to system design decisions, improve engineering practices, and mentor peers while working closely with the platform team and Engineering Manager to influence architecture and performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and delivering cloud-based products.
• Strong AWS experience, although other cloud backgrounds will be considered.
• Experience building serverless applications, particularly AWS Lambda.
• Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Experience working with APIs, databases, messaging and cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to LLM integration and AI engineering is highly desirable.
• Comfortable owning technical design decisions and getting into the detail of implementation.
• Strong engineering fundamentals around scalability, reliability, observability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on platform engineering role with a strong focus on system design and architecture.
• Designing and building backend services and scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Shaping how services communicate and making architectural trade-offs for scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
