Job summary

Purser is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to lead complex planning projects, provide trusted professional advice and own client relationships. You will work closely with Purser’s Directors, clients and multidisciplinary teams across a varied portfolio of development projects, helping define planning strategy and maintain clear direction throughout the development journey.

Qualifications

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Typically 5+ years’ relevant professional experience within the Irish planning system.
• Corporate Membership of the Irish Planning Institute (MIPI) and/or Chartered Membership of the RTPI (MRTPI), or equivalent professional standing.
• Strong knowledge of Irish planning law, policy and statutory procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, strategic and report-writing capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex planning projects and planning strategy from feasibility and pre-planning through application, consent and delivery.
• Provide trusted professional advice to clients on planning strategy, policy, risk and the appropriate way forward.
• Prepare and critically review high-quality planning reports, submissions and applications.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate planning, design, environmental and technical inputs.
• Lead meetings and manage important client relationships, representing Purser confidently with local authorities and stakeholders.
• Manage project quality, programme, scope, risk and client expectations.
• Review the work of others and provide clear technical direction and constructive feedback.
• Delegate effectively and support the development of junior colleagues.
• Identify commercial risks and contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of projects.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, technical development and the continued growth of the practice.
