Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists Limited seeks a Senior Physiotherapist to join our spinal service across the Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry and the Mater Private Day Hospital Northern Cross in Dublin. The role is full-time, 8.00am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with responsibilities in spinal assessment and management within a multidisciplinary spinal service.

Applicants must hold a CORU recognised physiotherapy qualification and be registered with CORU.

Qualifications

  • Physiotherapy qualification recognised by CORU.
  • Registered on the CORU Physiotherapists Register.
  • Spinal rehabilitation experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake the assessment and appropriate physiotherapy management of spinal patients.
  • Collaborate with the spinal neurosurgical team to discuss cases and decide on further management options.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with MSK physiotherapy, Chronic Pain Management teams, and radiology colleagues.
  • Provide assessment, treatment and education to patients with a range of spinal presentations.
  • Apply evidence-based practice to inform clinical reasoning and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in spinal rehabilitation.

Senior Physiotherapist - Spinal (Location: Sports Surgery Clinic & Mater Private Day Hospital Northern Cross)

Description

Neurospine, led by Mr Michael Kelleher and one of Irelands leading Neurosurgery and Physiotherapy clinics are hiring a Senior Physiotherapist, who has minimum 2 years experience as a senior physiotherapist, on a full-time basis working 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday working between our clinics within the Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry and our Clinic in Northern Cross, Malahide Road, Co. Dublin. To undertake a Spinal Physiotherapists role demonstrating specialist knowledge and skills with a specific interest in spinal pathology, within the Spinal Service and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Salary will depend on experience.

1. Qualifications

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:

1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

(a) Candidates for appointment must:

(i) Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. Please see list of acceptable Physiotherapy qualifications:

And

(ii) Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.

Or

(iii) Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, must submit proof of application for registration with the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant.

And

Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

2. Annual Registration

(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU

Specific Duties:

  • To undertake the assessment and appropriate physiotherapy management of spinal patients.
  • To work as part of the spinal neurosurgical team to discuss cases to decide on further management options which may include spinal surgery, spinal injections, further investigations, referral to another specialist service, discharge to self manage.
  • To have a collaborative relationship with colleagues in MSK physiotherapy, Chronic Pain Management teams, Radiology and other specialist secondary care services.
  • To provide assessment, treatment, management advice and education to patients with a range of acute and chronic, routine to highly complex clinical presentations referred to orthopaedics, neurosurgery and musculoskeletal services.
  • Analysis of treatment outcomes and subsequent re-evaluation of treatment for spinal patients pre and post operatively.
  • Using evidence based practice to maintain an awareness of current research developments to inform clinical reasoning and decision-making.
  • To provide advice and support to physiotherapy and multidisciplinary colleagues on clinical practice issues.
  • To collaborate with the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and Neurosurgeons in discussing the management of patients with spinal conditions and problems.
  • To demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills within the specialist area of spinal rehabilitation.
  • To demonstrate evidence based practice through the process of clinical reasoning and decision making, allowing knowledge to be applied to complex situations.
  • Spinal Manual Therapy /Dry needling experience desirable, but not essential.
