Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Overhead Line Engineer to lead and deliver complex transmission projects in Ireland. You will work from our offices in Dublin, with potential locations in Belfast or Nass, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and sustainable overhead line solutions.

The role offers a clear path to senior technical leadership, chartership support and opportunities to grow the overhead line capability in the region. A strong UK/Ireland travel element is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical/Power/ Civil Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of overhead transmission line projects up to 400kV.
• Strong understanding of overhead line design principles and route optimisation.
• Experience with major transmission infrastructure projects and network reinforcement schemes.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites across Ireland, the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of overhead line engineering and design activities across transmission projects (11kV–400kV).
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation and engineering proposals.
• Carry out design activities including route development, structure spotting and conductor selection.
• Support feasibility studies and option assessments for clients and stakeholders.
• Engage with stakeholders and participate in planning processes as required.
• Review deliverables to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Contribute to technical assurance and quality management activities.
