Job summary

ZeroOne is seeking an experienced MEP Site Lead to oversee on-site delivery of power, cooling, and fluid systems for data centre builds across Europe. You will lead testing, coordinate with architects and contractors, ensure Tier compliance, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining safety, quality, and documentation standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of MEP experience with data centres, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit.

• 5+ years MEP experience, data centre or mission-critical facilities preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CSA disciplines, Uptime Institute Tier requirements and relevant standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; site documentation skills.

• Oversee on-site installation of power, cooling, and fluid systems per design packages.
• Lead testing and commissioning, ensuring Tier compliance and IST readiness.
• Review design/tender docs for constructability and compliance.
• Set out works and verify activities meet drawings and specs.
• Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and maintain records.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors and ZeroOne teams to resolve issues.
• Mentor junior site engineers and deliver project governance reporting.

Job description

Lead on-site delivery of MEP installation, testing, and commissioning for hyperscale and colocation data centre builds, ensuring systems meet Uptime Institute Tier requirements and are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to design intent.

Location

Remote or Hybrid with travel to European client sites as required. Locations include Dublin, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the Nordics.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site installation of power, cooling, and critical fluid systems against approved design packages.
• Lead testing and commissioning of MEP systems, including Integrated Systems Testing (IST), ensuring Tier compliance.
• Review consultant and contractor design/tender documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Set out works and verify construction activities are carried out in accordance with project drawings and specifications.

2) Site Coordination & Quality

• Conduct site inspections and quality audits against design specifications, safety standards, and client governance.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and the ZeroOne teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
• Maintain snagging, punch-list, and defect-closure tracking through to handover.
• Maintain accurate site records, surveys, inspection reports, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and as-built documentation.

3) Safety & Compliance

• Enforce site safety standards and jurisdictional codes throughout installation and commissioning.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support 24/7 responsiveness during critical commissioning phases.

4) Reporting & Technical Leadership

• Prepare technical and progress reports for senior stakeholders and clients.
• Mentor junior site engineers and Flex Team resources on MEP best practice.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering; 5+ years' MEP experience, including data centre or mission-critical facility work.
• Strong knowledge of CSA disciplines, Uptime Institute Tier requirements, and familiarity with relevant industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO) and core building systems (HV/LV electrical, mechanical cooling, fire protection, BMS).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and site documentation tools.
• Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union and be able to provide evidence of their work authorization if requested.

Preferred

• Prior hyperscale or colocation data centre commissioning experience.
• Experience with AE/EoR delivery models, RFIs/submittals, and change-control workflows.

Certifications (nice to have)

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards; PMP or Prince2 for project governance exposure.
