Job summary

Freudenberg Medical is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead a team of engineers and technicians. You will drive process improvements across safety, quality, service and cost, while guiding NPI activities and ensuring smooth transfer to manufacturing.

The role requires a Level 8 degree in a relevant engineering field and at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, with strong Lean and Six Sigma expertise and a track record in mentoring teams.

Qualifications

• Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers; people management is an advantage.
• Strong background in Lean and Six Sigma and data-driven improvements.
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to strengthen production integration.
• Drive sustaining and continuous improvement of processes focusing on Safety, Quality, Service and Cost.
• Set clear engineering priorities aligned with site and business goals.

• Use data and metrics to identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and reliability.
• Coach and develop engineers and technicians through mentoring and training.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, helping to build capability and ensure strong integration with the wider production team.
• Drive the sustaining and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, with a focus on Safety, Quality, Service and Cost.
• Set clear engineering priorities and objectives aligned with site and business goals.
• Lead structured problem-solving, identifying robust, long-term solutions to manufacturing and technical challenges.
• Identify and deliver process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Oversee New Part Introduction (NPI) activities in partnership with the Prototyping/NPI team, supporting successful transfer into manufacturing.
• Use manufacturing data and process metrics to identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and reliability.
• Support the development of Engineers and Technicians through coaching, mentoring, training and development planning.

Qualifications

• Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience mentoring, coaching or providing technical leadership to other engineers; previous formal people management experience is an advantage but not essential.
• Strong experience in continuous improvement, structured problem-solving and data-driven process improvement.
• Knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; relevant qualifications are an advantage.
• Experience leading engineering projects and working effectively across Manufacturing, Quality, NPI and other cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, support and develop others.
