Job summary

Realtime Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Dublin-based organisation to hire a Senior IT Operations Engineer. You will be responsible for the availability, security and performance of the IT estate, leading infrastructure, cloud, security and application projects from design through to implementing the plan.

• 7+ years’ experience across IT infrastructure and operations, with 3+ years at senior level.
• Strong enterprise virtualization experience - VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix or equivalent.
• Azure or AWS cloud administration and delivery experience.
• Experience with SQL/database administration, backup and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Own the availability, performance and security of a multi-site IT infrastructure.
• Manage servers, virtualisation, storage, networking, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Lead infrastructure, cloud, security and application projects from design through to implementation and handover.
• Manage third-party IT providers, SLAs, escalations and service performance.
• Maintain backup, disaster recovery and business continuity across a 24/7 operational environment.
• Implement and maintain security controls across identity, endpoints, firewalls, segmentation and Zero Trust.
• Provide senior/third-line technical support across infrastructure, applications and databases.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders and translate complex technical issues into clear business language.

Job description

A well-established organisation with a complex, business-critical technology environment is looking for a Senior IT Operations Engineer to strengthen its in-house technology team.

You must have full working rights for Ireland to be considered for this position.

You will be responsible for the availability, security and performance of the IT estate, while managing third-party technology partners and leading infrastructure, cloud, security and application projects from design through to implementation and handover.

This is a broad role suited to a technically strong IT Infrastructure / Operations professional who enjoys a combination of hands-on engineering, project delivery and stakeholder/vendor management.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years’ experience across IT infrastructure and operations, with 3+ years at senior level.


• Strong enterprise virtualisation experience - VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix or equivalent.


• Strong Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory experience.


• Azure or AWS cloud administration and delivery experience.


• Strong networking knowledge across routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls and segmentation.


• Practical cybersecurity experience, including SOC/MDR, firewall management and Zero Trust.


• Experience with SQL/database administration, backup and disaster recovery.


• Proven experience managing MSPs/vendors and delivering technical projects.


• ITIL-aligned service management experience.


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in OT, critical infrastructure, transport, logistics, utilities or other regulated environments, along with exposure to NIS2, DORA, IEC 62443, PowerShell, automation or Power BI, would be advantageous.
