Job summary

Berkley Group in Dublin is seeking an Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Engineer on a 6-month contract to join a global team. The role requires 7+ years in infrastructure engineering and cloud operations, with deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange Online, Entra ID and Cisco CUCM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 7+ years' experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations or similar role.
• Proven enterprise Unified Communications/telephony experience with Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, SIP and Teams Phone.
• Experience migrating on-prem voice to cloud-based telephony.
• Strong WAN/LAN networking across routing, switching, firewalls, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi.
• Knowledge of VMware/virtualisation, storage, backups and monitoring tools.
• Infrastructure security knowledge: patching, Zero Trust and device compliance.
• Familiarity with ITIL Incident/Problem/Change processes and MSP collaboration.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support Microsoft 365 suite including Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive and Entra ID.
• Manage on-premises servers, storage, VMware, backups and core compute environments.
• Provide senior-level troubleshooting and escalation support for complex infra issues.
• Administer and support Unified Communications and telephony (CUCM, Unity, SIP, Teams Phone).
• Support cloud-based transformation of voice services from on-prem to cloud.
• Oversee WAN/LAN, SD-WAN, internet circuits, firewalls, Wi‑Fi and cloud connectivity.
• Implement infra security controls including MFA and Zero Trust principles.
• Deliver infrastructure, cloud, network and communications projects with runbooks and docs.
• Collaborate with IT teams and MSPs; follow ITIL processes and contribute to automation.

Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Engineer

Contract - Initial 6 months

My client, a multinational organisation, is on the lookout for an Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Engineer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract with view for extension.

The Job:

• Maintain, configure and support core Microsoft 365 and infrastructure services, including Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Support on-premises servers, storage, VMware/virtualisation, backup and core compute environments, including monitoring performance, capacity, availability and resilience.
• Provide senior-level troubleshooting and escalation support for complex infrastructure, hardware and service issues, ensuring incidents are resolved within agreed SLAs.
• Administer and support enterprise Unified Communications and telephony, including Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, voice gateways, SIP services, Microsoft Teams Phone, Direct Routing and Operator Connect.
• Support the transformation of enterprise voice services from legacy on-premises telephony to cloud-based communications, including migration activities and phased decommissioning of legacy platforms.
• Support WAN/LAN infrastructure, including Internet circuits, SD-WAN, firewalls, routing, switching, Wi-Fi, cloud connectivity, remote access, resilience and disaster recovery.
• Implement infrastructure security controls alongside security teams, including patching, vulnerability remediation, MFA, Conditional Access, device compliance and Zero Trust principles.
• Deliver and support infrastructure, cloud, network and communications projects, including upgrades, migrations, modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with internal IT teams and managed service providers, while maintaining accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, procedures and operational runbooks.
• Follow ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem and Change Management processes, contributing to root-cause analysis, service improvement, automation and optimisation while providing occasional out-of-hours/weekend support when required.

Have you:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, combined with 7+ years' experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations or a comparable enterprise technical operations role.
• Strong expertise across Microsoft 365, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Proven enterprise Unified Communications/telephony experience is essential, specifically with Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, voice gateways, SIP and Teams Phone.
• Demonstrable experience delivering or supporting enterprise telephony migrations and transformation programmes, particularly moving from on-premises voice platforms to cloud-based telephony.
• Strong WAN/LAN networking experience covering routing, switching, firewalls, SD-WAN, Internet circuits, Wi-Fi, remote access and cloud connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of VMware/virtualisation, storage, backup and core infrastructure, plus experience with infrastructure monitoring, service-health or device-analytics tools.
• Practical understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, patching, Zero Trust, device compliance and security standards.
• Experience working within ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management environments and collaborating with managed service providers and multiple IT disciplines.
• Excellent analytical, communication, documentation and customer-service skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CLCOR; Microsoft MS-720/MS-721, MS-700 or equivalent Teams/voice certification; Microsoft 365 certification; ITIL Foundation; CISSP or equivalent security certification; and experience with automation, cloud adoption, WAN modernisation or Zero Trust programmes.
