Senior Information Security Engineer - €700-750 Per Day
A leading construction and Engineering organisation with a strong focus on the design and construction of Data Centres is looking for a Senior Information Security Engineer to join them on a contract basis in advance of an upcoming digital transformation project.
Reporting to the Chief Information Security officer, this role shapes and delivers the Organisations information security and IT risk strategy, ensuring strong governance, robust controls, and full regulatory compliance. The Senior Information Security Engineer will help protect the Company’s information assets, enhance cyber resilience, and ensure alignment with internal standards while working closely with stakeholders across the business.
Located in South County Dublin, the role will be predominantly based onsite in the initial period with flexibility for hybrid arrangements once the project is properly up and running. While this role is initially offered on a 12 month contract basis, the scale and scope of the project is such that there is significant potential for it to be extended well beyond the current timeframe.
Responsibilities of Role
- Design, build, and troubleshoot advanced security solutions, applying creative technical approaches to solve complex problems and improve the organisation’s security posture.
- Use approved AI‑enabled tooling to accelerate threat modelling, vulnerability analysis, and security documentation, validating outputs and ensuring sensitive data is handled securely.
- Writes secure, high‑quality production code and performs detailed code reviews, debugging and improving code developed by engineering peers.
- Reduce security vulnerabilities by continuously enhancing security controls in line with industry standards and regulatory guidance; performs discovery activities, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and threat scenario analysis to identify and evaluate weaknesses.
- Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to understand security requirements, provide guidance during periods of elevated risk, and recommend changes that strengthen system and application security.
- Manage vendor security assessments, service‑provider KPIs, and Company‑wide security awareness training.
- Guide IT change and project teams on security requirements and technical controls.
- Maintain a unified control framework aligned to global standards and regulatory expectations.
- Play a leading role in helping the Security team to deliver high‑quality, risk‑based outcomes.
- Perform selected operational security activities and deliver the Security Assurance Framework.
- Conduct risk assessments and oversee business unit security risk management.
- Third Level degree in computer science, IT or other area relevant to the role
- 5+ Years experience in a Senior Information Security role
- Cisco - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CISM or other equivalent professional qualification
- TOGAF, CoBit or other Architectural certification would be particularly advantageous but relevant experience may suffice
- Demonstrable experience taking an ISO 27001 implementation through to certification, with personal involvement in producing the ISMS, Statement of Applicability and audit-ready documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 security stack, including Defender for Endpoint, Intune, Entra ID, Conditional Access, Defender for Cloud Apps and Purview.
- Hands‑on detection engineering and incident response experience, comfortable engineering as well as directing.
- Proven ability to design and build security automation across the existing security stack, using PowerShell with Microsoft Graph, SOAR or Sentinel Logic Apps, and Python, or other appropriate methods.
- Experience operating or administering a CTEM, breach‑and‑attack simulation, or automated penetration testing platform such as Pentera, AttackIQ, Cymulate or SafeBreach.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions and giving honest, constructive critique to internal staff, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
