Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the organisation's financial control and reporting. You will oversee regulatory compliance, funder returns and financial statements, reporting to the CFO and Board.

A strategic partner will guide budgeting, planning and risk management while safeguarding assets and ensuring robust governance. The role demands a professionally qualified accountant with at least five years post-qualification experience in a complex environment,

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in a senior financial management role.
• Experience managing finance functions within a complex organisation.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial control.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Strong understanding of financial governance and internal control frameworks.
• Excellent technical skills.
• Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the organisation's financial accounting function.
• Ensure the integrity and completeness of all financial records.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes with timely reporting.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor financial performance and identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead the Receivables process end to end.
• Prepare monthly management accounts for stakeholders and annual Financial Statements.
• Ensure compliance with funding, regulatory, charity and company law.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
• Oversee external audits and internal control improvements.
• Lead the finance team and foster continuous improvement.
• Drive governance, systems improvements, and digital finance initiatives.
