Job summary

Johnson Controls Systems & Service Ltd - HVAC Ireland in Dublin seeks a Senior Product Engineering Manager to own end-to-end development of data-centre chillers and commercial heat-pump systems for Europe. You will lead design, validation, and lifecycle management, ensuring EU compliance and collaborating with global design hubs.

The role demands 7–12 years in HVAC product engineering, strong thermodynamics know-how, LEAN practices, and effective cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Mechanical, Thermal, or Energy Engineering.
• 7–12 years' experience in HVAC product engineering, ideally chillers/heat-pump tech.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, HVAC/R design, and low-GWP refrigerants.
• Experience with EU regulations and standards (EN 378, EU F-Gas, PED, Machinery, ATEX, ISO/EN).
• LEAN practices applied in product development to improve speed and quality.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering development and full product lifecycle of data-centre chillers and commercial heat-pump systems for the European market.
• Own the technical delivery of HVAC products, ensuring EU performance, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Translate customer needs, regulatory obligations, and market insights into engineering solutions.
• Drive cost, quality, reliability, and efficiency improvements across existing and new products.
• Support prototype builds, laboratory and field testing, certification, and customer validation activities across Europe.
• Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Act as a key technical partner to Product Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Service teams, and global engineering centres.
• Deliver end-to-end ownership from concept to lifecycle management; review specs, CAD, test plans, and RFQs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across mechanical, electrical, controls, and compliance domains.
