Job summary

JJ Rhatigan & Company in Dublin is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead on-site engineering activities for multi-million‑euro projects. You will review designs for buildability, coordinate with design teams, manage RFI schedules, maintain setting-out, and ensure safety and quality systems are followed.

You will lead a team of engineers, liaise with project managers on progress, and contribute to on-site problem solving while delivering projects to programme and budget.

Responsibilities

• Review the design in detail for buildability and generate a schedule of issues for each stage of construction.
• Coordinate with the project manager to ensure engineering resources and mentoring for staff.
• Maintain the RFI Schedule and ensure timely responses with the design team.
• Ensure the project programme is followed, including design, procurement, lead-in and construction.
• Take responsibility for dimensional control and setting out for the works.
• Submit technical submissions within required timescales and manage approvals.
• Generate Inspection and Test Plans and method statements with focus on buildability and safety.
• Carry out inspections and audits of works and report findings to the project team.
• Define responsibilities within each package of works and sign off sub-contract packages.
• Coordinate temporary works and maintain a temporary works register on site.
• Participate in design meetings and ensure BIM usage aligns with project goals.
• Ensure quality control processes are followed and training is pursued where needed.
• Manage clerk data and reporting to projects team on progress and risks.
• Advise on materials and plant requisition and ensure adherence to purchasing procedures.
• Carry out works in accordance with health and safety requirements and company policies.
• Attend learning and development activities and performance reviews.
