Job summary

Elastic Security is seeking a Senior Security Research Engineer to lead advanced protection features within Elastic Defend. You will research attacker tactics, design novel protections, and implement high-performance code across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and engineers, mentor colleagues, and present findings at conferences while contributing to open source projects and Elastic Security Labs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience analyzing attacker TTPs and building detection methods for real threats.
• 6+ years of development in C, C++, and Python for security-critical codebases.
• Deep OS internals knowledge (Windows depth prioritized).
• Reverse engineering and malware-analysis experience.
• Adversarial mindset to anticipate evasion.
• Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Research attacker techniques and translate into protections across endpoints.
• Extend endpoint visibility across Windows, macOS, Linux.
• Develop production code in C/C++ that runs on millions of endpoints.
• Reverse engineer malware and study evasion techniques.
• Own efficacy end to end: review telemetry, investigate false positives, and mitigate issues.
• Extend protection parity across platforms and architectures.
• Collaborate with Elastic Security across countries and teams.
• Mentor engineers and help steer technical direction.
• Publish and present research findings to the community.
